Why do I need to purchase a phone number inside the system?

Purchasing a number inside ClickUpLocal allows you to send and receive calls and text messages directly from the platform. This number connects to your CRM, automations, and SMS campaigns, making everything trackable and centralized.

Can I use my personal phone number instead?

No. Personal phone numbers (like your mobile line) can’t be used for automations or A2P messaging inside the platform. You need a system-generated number that’s registered and compliant.

What kind of number will I get?

You’ll get a local U.S. phone number unless you choose a different area code. The system will allow you to search by area code and pick an available number.

How much does it cost?

Most phone numbers cost around $1 to $2 per month, plus small per-minute and per-text usage charges. Charges are billed through your Twilio balance or your integrated billing setup.

Can I choose the area code or number I want?

Yes. You’ll be able to search by area code and choose from available numbers. If your preferred area code isn’t available, you can try a nearby one.

Can I port my existing business number into the system?

Porting is possible, but it takes time and approval from your current carrier. For most users, it’s faster to purchase a new number inside ClickUpLocal and begin using it right away.

Do I need to do anything after purchasing the number?

Yes — after purchasing, the number must be registered for A2P messaging compliance. This is a separate step to verify your business and ensure your texts get delivered properly. It’s covered in the Business Profile setup section.

Can I have more than one number in my account?

Yes. You can purchase multiple numbers — for departments, different team members, or tracking specific campaigns. Just make sure each number is properly registered and connected to the right user or automation.
